Dear Friend,
Fit Woman and Family members are doing a 14-week weight loss challenge among its members.  If you are interested in participating please sign up at the desk.  Challenge runs through Thanksgiving.

FIT WOMAN & FAMILY - 14-Week Weight Loss Challenge

 

Starting the week of August 16 and concluding the week of November 15:

 

Voluntary participants will weigh in each week & have a FW&F staff member verify and record their weight one day each week.

 

Each participant will be allowed ONE skip week.

COST:  $5.00 UP FRONT to join - $5.00 to quit early.

Participants are encouraged to eat healthy and exercise

If you LOSE during the preceding week - you pay no penalty.  If you GAIN during the preceding week -  you pay $1.00 - not per pound, just for the week.  Weigh-in must be at least one week from last weigh-in.

 

The person who loses the BIGGEST PERCENTAGE of total weight loss will win the accumulated money.

 

1st Place Winner (loser):      wins 75% of total pot 

2nd Place Winner (loser):     wins remaining 25%

3 Reasons You Should Eat Carbs

Although carbs sometimes get a bad rap, despite what Atkins says, they are not the enemy. The ones to watch out for are the processed white carbs, such as white bread, white rice and sugar, which can lead to weight gain and diabetes. But here are three reasons you shouldn't give up the carbs altogether:

1. Everyone needs to eat carbs for energy, and a lack of carbs can result in dehydration, constipation and fatigue.

2. The right carbohydrates, which include unrefined carbs such as whole-grain bread, brown rice, beans and fruits, contain fiber, which actually helps to speed up weight loss.

3. Good, unprocessed carbs are absorbed more slowly into our systems, which prevents spikes in blood sugar that can cause us to crave food and overeat.

So there you have it-if you choose wisely, you can still fulfill your cravings for carbs!
